Vision and Mission

The Strategic Plan Task Force has been meeting over the past few months and developed the following key directives after we received input from the congregation in the spring:

Core Values:

Worship: We value prayer, praise and music. 

Faith:  We grow our Christian faith through the study of scripture, tradition, reason and experience. 

Community: We are welcoming, caring, supportive and inclusive.

Service: We actively serve through outreach our congregation, our community and our world.

Vision: 

St. James the Apostle Anglican Church is dedicated to inspire and engage all people in their spiritual growth.

Mission: 

St. James the Apostle Anglican Church exists to enrich peoples’ spiritual life through worship discipleship, community, and service.

A successful Strategic Planning Day was held on Sunday, September 19 with 40 members of the congregation in attendance. Priorities were identified in the areas of Worship, Inreach (Family— Our Church, Youth & Adults), Outreach (Community), Outreach (National/International), and Physical Plant. Now, we must implement the practical part of our Strategic Plan with individuals and tasks identified to realize our Core Values, Vision, and Mission.

Worship: we asked Reverend Bill to form a Worship Committee to address the list of priorities identified in the October 11, 2010 Pew News.

Inreach and Outreach: a committee was formed and met on October 13th. They will prepare a report identifying which priorities they think are feasible for St. James and a plan to carry out those priorities.

Physical Plant: it was identified that St. James should develop a long-term property plan, expand the parking, re-work the worship area, build a new hall with offices and kitchen, expand the church and tear down the house. To this end, a committee will be formed and members of this committee have been identified and approached in the near future. This committee will also prepare a report identifying how St. James should move forward.

The Strategic Planning Task Force will create a strategic planning report to be presented at Vestry in February 2011.

The Strategic Planning Task Force would like to thank everyone for their continued support and enthusiasm as St. James moves forward with its vision for the future.
